About Hartford Dispensary
Hartford Dispensary in Manchester, Connecticut, operates as part of Root Center for Advanced Recovery, a behavioral health organization that treats more than 5,500 people across the state each day. They take a whole-person, evidence-based approach to substance use and mental health care and draw on more than 50 years of experience in recovery services. Their care includes medication-assisted treatment, partial hospitalization, adult day treatment, and intensive outpatient programming, and the organization has recently opened its first residential facility.
Medication-assisted treatment is central to their work, combining buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone with counseling and behavioral therapy for adults and teens with opioid or alcohol use disorders. Their partial hospitalization and adult day programs meet four hours a day, five days a week, usually for one to two weeks, before patients step down to IOP. These programs use small groups of 6 to 12 people that cover relapse prevention, trauma, mindfulness, stress management, and life skills, with specialized groups for LGBTQ individuals, veterans, and survivors of abuse. Patients can also add individual therapy, family therapy, and medication management, and the Manchester clinic offers a weekly problem gambling group in person or online.
