About Harmony Ridge Recovery Center

Harmony Ridge Recovery Center is a West Virginia drug and alcohol treatment provider with a location in Barboursville, part of a small network that also includes sites in Walker and Charleston. Founded in 2018 in response to the state’s opioid crisis, they focus on evidence-based programs tailored to each person and serve adults struggling with substance use, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions. Their continuum covers medically supervised detox, residential treatment with 24-hour nursing, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and standard outpatient care, followed by aftercare planning. They accept Medicaid, PEIA, Tricare, and most major private insurance plans.

During detox, they use medication-assisted treatment when needed, along with psychiatric oversight and medication management to ease withdrawal. Their intensive outpatient program meets roughly two to four hours a day, three to four days a week, blending individual sessions, dual diagnosis care, group work modeled on 12-step principles, and ongoing medication support. Outpatient clients may work with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, REBT, motivational interviewing, family therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness-based practices, with schedules adjusted as they gain stability. Before discharge, therapists help each person build a relapse prevention and aftercare plan that can connect them with sober living, alumni programs, SMART Recovery, and 12-step groups such as AA and NA.
