HARBEL Prevention and Recovery Center is an outpatient substance use and mental health program in Northeast Baltimore, Maryland, run by HARBEL, a community organization that has served the area for more than 50 years. They treat both adults and adolescents with alcohol and drug use concerns, mental health needs, or both, and their care centers on helping people reduce and ultimately end harmful substance use. Clients typically spend about 90 days in IOP and show at least 30 days of abstinence before stepping down to standard outpatient care, which usually involves 2 to 3 hours of individual and group sessions each week for around six months. Specialized offerings include DUI/DWI education that meets court-ordered requirements, an Abuser Intervention Program, Seeking Safety groups, relapse prevention, gender-specific groups, and peer recovery support with peer case management.
