About HAART
HAART (Humanistic Alternatives to Addiction Research & Treatment) is a nonprofit outpatient opioid treatment program in Oakland, California, with a second clinic in Hayward. Since 1979, they have focused on making care for opioid use disorder humane and easy to reach for individuals and families. They work with people using heroin, fentanyl, or prescription painkillers such as oxycodone and morphine, including those who also use other drugs or live with mental health conditions. Care centers on long-term medication maintenance and outpatient detoxification, with dosing available early each morning and on weekends and holidays.
Treatment is built around FDA-approved medications, each prescribed and monitored by their medical team as part of an individualized plan. Options include methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone and Subutex), the monthly Sublocade injection for people who would rather not dose daily, and naltrexone (Vivitrol), a non-opioid choice that blocks opioid effects. Medication is paired with professional counseling, medical monitoring, case management, and advocacy to help clients stabilize and rebuild their lives. Every client can also get naloxone (Narcan) and other overdose prevention resources.
