About Groups Recover Together
Groups Recover Together is an outpatient provider of medication-based treatment for opioid use disorder, with an office in Lewiston, Maine, as part of a national network of more than 120 locations. Since launching in 2014, they have built their model around a few pillars: medication to manage cravings and withdrawal, weekly group therapy, and practical help with everyday needs. Care is available in person or online, and new members can often begin treatment within one business day. Their approach is deliberately non-judgmental, so a setback is treated as part of recovery rather than a reason for punishment.
Getting started involves a virtual intake with a counselor and a physician, who confirm the program is a good fit and prescribe Suboxone at an appropriate dose. In some states, long-acting injectable medication and comfort medications for withdrawal are also options. Members attend a one-hour group session each week, led by a licensed counselor, with evening, weekend, and app-based times available, and they complete weekly confidential urine screens. Beyond clinical care, staff help members apply for insurance, find housing and work, and address needs like food and transportation, and they accept Medicaid, Medicare, most commercial plans, and discounted self-pay.
