About Groups Recover Together

Groups Recover Together is an outpatient opioid addiction treatment program serving Augusta, Maine, as part of a national network of more than 120 offices that has offered care since 2014. They focus specifically on opioid use disorder, pairing medication with weekly group therapy and practical life support in a non-judgmental setting where a return to use is treated as part of recovery rather than grounds for punishment. Care is available in person or virtually through the Groups app, and new members can often get a Suboxone prescription and join a group within one business day. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most commercial insurance, and they offer discounted self-pay options for people without coverage.

Treatment begins with a virtual intake: a licensed counselor or recovery consultant reviews your health history, and then a physician sets an appropriate medication dose. Medication centers on Suboxone, with long-acting injectable options in some states and comfort medications to ease withdrawal when needed. Members attend a one-hour group session each week, led by a licensed counselor, with evening, weekend, and online times to fit around work and family. Weekly confidential urine screens are part of the program, and staff also help members with needs such as insurance applications, housing, employment, food, and transportation.
