About Greater Family Health

Greater Family Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center with a location in Sycamore, Illinois, part of a network of 12 community health centers across the northern and northwest Chicago suburbs. Their mission is to make quality health care affordable for everyone, including people who can’t pay. Alongside primary, pediatric, women’s, and dental care, their behavioral health services include individual, family, and group counseling, substance use disorder services, and psychiatric care. They provide behavioral health at the Level 1 outpatient level, which suits people who can manage recovery while living at home.

Because they are accredited by the Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home, patients work with an interdisciplinary team of medical, dental, and behavioral health providers who coordinate care for both physical and mental health needs. When someone needs more than outpatient support, they refer to partner organizations such as Ecker Center, Rosecrance, and Family Service Association, and they send younger patients from the northwest suburbs to Omni for mental health and substance use care. They also work to remove practical obstacles to care by offering 24-hour access to providers, care management, transportation help, reduced-price medications, bilingual staff, and walk-in, Saturday, and same-day appointments. They accept most insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid, and they also offer self-pay options.
