Great Lakes Recovery Centers is a nonprofit, CARF-accredited behavioral health organization serving Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, with an outpatient office in St. Ignace among their network of clinics. They view substance use disorder as a disease that affects individuals, families, and whole communities, and they believe there are multiple pathways to recovery. Their services address substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders for adults, adolescents, and children. Care spans outpatient individual and group therapy, four adult residential programs, a residential center for adolescents, and certified men’s and women’s recovery housing, with referrals to detox when needed.

Every path starts with a phone screening through their Access Center, which helps people with limited financial resources find funding options. Outpatient clients receive coordinated Compass Care from a team that can include counselors, community health workers, medical providers, and peer supports, with help arranging transportation, food assistance, insurance, and state benefit applications, in person or by telehealth. Physicians and nurse practitioners provide medication-assisted treatment alongside general health care, while enrolled clients can join clinically supervised groups, in-house AA and NA meetings, and peer recovery coaching. Teens in residential care attend school on-site, and specialized programs serve women and families as well as veterans in select counties.
