About Gandara Mental Health Center

Gándara Center is a bilingual, bicultural behavioral health agency founded in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1977 to advocate for equal and culturally competent care for the Hispanic community. Today they serve Hispanic, African-American, and other culturally diverse clients across the state, treating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and problem gambling alongside broader mental health needs. In Springfield, they run outpatient clinics that welcome walk-ins and double as behavioral health urgent care centers. Their substance use services also include a Structured Outpatient Addiction Program (SOAP), long-term residential recovery homes for men, women, and young adults, and recovery support housing.

Outpatient care covers individual, group, family, and couples counseling, along with psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychological testing. Springfield clients can join groups focused on substance misuse, anger management, and parenting, and the clinics also offer the Massachusetts Impaired Driving Program and TMS services. Recovery doesn’t end at the clinic door: recovery coaches, peer recovery support centers, and a Community Support Program with recovery support navigators help people stay connected in their communities. Select locations have an on-site bilingual pharmacy, and a primary care and wellness integration program helps coordinate physical and behavioral health.
