About Gandara Mental Health Center

Gándara Center is a bilingual, bicultural behavioral health agency founded in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1977 to advocate for equal, culturally competent care in the Hispanic community. Today they serve Hispanic, African-American, and other culturally diverse children, adults, and families across the state with mental health, substance use, residential, and prevention services. Their addiction care spans outpatient counseling, a Structured Outpatient Addiction Program (SOAP), and long-term residential treatment for men, women, and young adults living with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions. In Springfield, their outpatient clinics also operate as behavioral health urgent care centers and welcome walk-ins.

Outpatient services include individual, group, family, and couples counseling, along with psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychological testing. Specialized groups address substance misuse, anger management, and parenting, and they also run the Massachusetts Impaired Driving Program, a problem gambling program, and TMS services. Recovery support reaches beyond the clinic through recovery coaching, peer recovery support centers, recovery support housing, and a community support program with recovery support navigators who help people stay connected to care. Select locations also offer an on-site bilingual pharmacy and primary care and wellness integration, which makes it easier to address physical and behavioral health together.
