About Galilee Mission

The Galilee Mission is a nonprofit addiction treatment organization based in Wakefield, Rhode Island, that has served adults in Washington County and nearby communities since 1984. They run several programs for people struggling with alcohol or drug dependence, including residential treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient care, peer recovery support, and transitional or sober living, along with mental health counseling. Their practical goal is helping clients return to work, reconnect with loved ones, take part in their community, and build a sober support network. Their programs are licensed by Rhode Island’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare (BHDDH) and the state Department of Health.

Residential care often begins at Brett’s Place, a 14-bed, high-intensity ASAM Level 3.5 program in Wakefield focused on stabilization after a crisis, where staff use motivational enhancement and other evidence-based approaches alongside daily medical monitoring, medication management, and random drug screening. Clients can then step down to Galilee House, a 16-bed ASAM Level 3.1 residence in Narragansett grounded in 12-Step principles, where residents must find a job within a few weeks and receive at least five hours of individual and group counseling each week, plus activity therapy and community self-help meetings. For people who don’t need a residential stay, they provide assessments, court-ordered treatment, urinalysis, and individual, group, and family counseling covering relapse prevention, anger management, relationships, and life skills. Certified peer recovery specialists with lived experience are available to all clients and are frequently paired with sober house residents for added support.
