About Fremont Counseling Service

Fremont Counseling Service is a nonprofit community mental health and substance use provider serving Riverton, Lander, and the surrounding Fremont County area of Wyoming, and they have been offering care since 1959. They provide outpatient addiction treatment for teens, young adults, and adults, blending individual, group, and family counseling with attention to mental health concerns that often accompany substance use. Care begins with an assessment that includes the Addiction Severity Index, a bio-psycho-social evaluation, and a level-of-care recommendation based on ASAM criteria. Fees are discounted by household size and income, and they accept most insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP.

Their programs range from an eight-week Basic Alcohol & Drug Education group that meets weekly to Intensive Outpatient Treatment with two tracks. The standard track meets for three-hour groups three times a week, while the co-occurring track combines group and individual sessions addressing both addiction and mental health, and both run ten weeks before moving into 33 weeks of continuing care. People waiting for an IOT opening can attend a weekly check-in group, and supporting services include medication management for those with co-occurring serious mental illness, case management, peer support, and individual or family therapy. They also offer 24/7 emergency and crisis response, though they do not provide DUI classes.
