About Freedom House Recovery Center

Freedom House Recovery Center is a nonprofit behavioral health organization serving central North Carolina, including Warrenton through their Warren County outpatient clinic and a 12-bed men’s recovery house. Since 1974 they have helped individuals and families with substance use and mental health challenges, using an integrated, person-centered model that treats both together. They work with people struggling with alcohol, opioids, stimulants, sedatives, cannabis, hallucinogens, inhalants, and nicotine. Their care spans outpatient therapy, a Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP), long-term residential treatment, short-term crisis stabilization, mobile crisis response, and ongoing care management.

Their 12-month step-down path begins with a full assessment by a licensed therapist, moves through intensive outpatient care into standard outpatient work, and continues with ongoing connection once formal treatment ends. The outpatient clinics serve children, adolescents, and adults, offering psychiatric evaluations, individual, family, and group therapy, medication management, peer support, telehealth, criminal justice-related programs, and DWI/DMV evaluations that meet North Carolina requirements. Their residential program gives adults with a primary substance use diagnosis up to six months of structured sober living with 24/7 staff, relapse prevention, therapy, and job readiness and life skills training, with applicants needing at least seven days since their last use. Cell phones and personal electronics are held during the stay, and the residential program is covered by Medicaid and state funding, with staff verifying eligibility before admission.
