Flint Odyssey House is a nonprofit addiction treatment provider in Flint, Michigan, and the Flint branch of the Odyssey Village network, which also operates programs in Saginaw and Port Huron. They run a modified therapeutic community for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, view addiction as a chronic condition that calls for long-term support, and place particular emphasis on serving people with limited financial means. Care in Flint spans 24/7 medically monitored withdrawal management, usually lasting two to five days, along with co-ed residential treatment, day treatment, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, and structured recovery housing for up to twelve months. Residential treatment follows a structured therapeutic community model that combines social learning theory, behavioral modification, cognitive restructuring, insight-oriented therapy, and collective recovery, with peer accountability and privileges earned over time. The residential program serves men, women, couples, parenting mothers and fathers, and whole families, and recovery housing builds on the same principle of residents supporting one another’s sobriety. Teens ages 13 to 17 in Genesee County can join an adolescent intensive outpatient track that includes individual counseling, case management, peer recovery support, and family resources. Beyond clinical care, they offer parenting coaching through the Enhanced Women’s Specialty and 24/7 Dads programs, family-based prevention, and vocational training through STRIVE, while new clients start with a screening at their Community Involvement Center to find the right level of care.
