About Farrell Treatment Center
Farrell Treatment Center is a community-based substance use treatment program in New Britain, Connecticut, operated by Gilead Community Services, with additional outpatient services in Middletown. They focus on helping people build a healthy, substance-free life, and they place real weight on a family-like atmosphere, with home-cooked meals and an aftercare team that helps clients find a safe place to go after treatment. Their care includes intensive residential treatment for men, an intensive outpatient program for men and women, and ongoing individual and group outpatient therapy for both substance use and mental health needs.
The residential program, open to Medicaid clients only, offers two levels of care. ASAM Level 3.5 provides 24-hour support and more than 20 hours of weekly treatment, including small clinical groups, nursing care, psychiatric evaluations, and individual therapy. Level 3.7 is medically monitored, with 30 or more weekly hours and closer attention to co-occurring medical or mental health conditions. Most residents arrive through a detox or hospital referral, although self-referral is possible with a PPD test, a physical, and mental health documentation. Intensive outpatient clients attend three-hour sessions three days a week, with day and evening options, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, case management, and gender-based groups on anger management, stress reduction, trauma, and relapse prevention. Standard outpatient care runs one to three hours weekly, and clients can stay with the same clinicians as they move between levels of care.
