About Farnham Family Services

Farnham Family Services is an outpatient substance use disorder treatment and prevention organization serving Fulton, Oswego, and surrounding communities in central New York. They view addiction as a disease and offer several routes into recovery for people struggling with drugs and alcohol, regardless of background or where they are in the process. Through Open Access hours, anyone can walk in, complete an intake and evaluation with a qualified clinician, and be paired with a certified peer advocate the same day. Staff help uninsured clients obtain coverage, and no one is turned away because they can’t pay.

Their Opioid Treatment Program, the first in Oswego County, provides methadone, buprenorphine (including Suboxone), and Vivitrol alongside individual counseling, group therapy, physicals, family involvement, case management, and vocational counseling from a team that includes a physician, nurses, and credentialed therapists. A large peer services team of Certified Recovery Peer Advocates draws on their own recovery experience to help people build recovery plans, coping strategies, and life skills, and this support is available even to those not enrolled in clinical care. Peers work in clinics, schools, homes, and the community, and they partner with family courts, child welfare caseworkers, and Catholic Charities on programs like START, Better For Families, and supervised family visitation aimed at keeping families together or reuniting them. They also run street outreach and distribute harm reduction kits containing naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and basic supplies to reach people who might not otherwise connect with treatment.
