About Family Self Help Center Inc
Family Self Help Center, Inc., better known as Lafayette House, is a Joplin, Missouri agency that has served southwest Missouri since 1978, offering trauma-informed help to people affected by substance use disorders, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Their addiction program is designed for women and their children, so mothers can pursue recovery without being separated from their kids. Treatment is offered at both residential and outpatient levels of care, and they added alcohol and drug services to their work in 1983.
Care centers on medication-assisted treatment combined with comprehensive counseling and recovery services, along with family counseling and education programs. Children receive their own services, including licensed childcare on site, while case management, job training, and transitional housing help women build stability beyond treatment. They also run comprehensive outpatient treatment for participants in the Jasper, McDonald, and Newton County drug court programs. Because the same agency provides domestic violence and sexual assault counseling, women dealing with trauma alongside addiction can find related support under one roof, and information is available in Spanish.
