About Family Guidance Centers Inc
Family Guidance Centers, Inc. is a substance use treatment organization serving Chicago and communities across Illinois, with more than 25 years of experience and 18 locations statewide. They treat substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health conditions, and focus on meeting people where they are by lowering barriers to care. Their continuum runs from prevention and harm reduction through hospital-based medically managed withdrawal, stabilization and transitional services, outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment, residential care, and recovery homes. They also offer mental health and adolescent services.
Medication is central to their approach: they provide methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone for opioid use disorder, as well as naltrexone, acamprosate, and disulfiram for alcohol use disorder. Outpatient care combines individual and group counseling, case management, and toxicology testing, and walk-ins are accepted at every site without an appointment. Beyond the clinic, they run the statewide 24/7 MAR NOW telehealth helpline and send mobile vans that offer naloxone, drug checking, peer support, and same-day medication. In Chicago, their methadone clinic operates inside UI Health’s Mile Square Health Center, where patients can also get primary care, and no one is turned away because of inability to pay or citizenship status, with case managers helping uninsured patients obtain coverage and transportation support available for those who need it.
