About Family Advantage LLC

Family Advantage LLC is a North Carolina behavioral health agency, designated a Critical Access Behavioral Health Agency (CABHA), with a residential home in Scotland Neck that opened in 2019. They work with children, adolescents, and families dealing with complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs, including anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, self-harm, and repeated placement disruptions. Their continuum includes Residential Level III care, day treatment, outpatient therapy, and medication management, which lets young people move between levels of care under one consistent treatment plan. They have held CARF accreditation since 2009 and take a trauma-informed approach that treats difficult behavior as communication rather than defiance.

The residential program serves adolescent boys in a small, home-like setting with 24-hour supervision, weekly individual therapy, family therapy about every two weeks, group sessions several times a week, and daily life skills coaching. Clinical work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and the SKILLS System, a DBT-informed emotion-regulation model that staff and youth practice together. Their Navigating Day Treatment Center pairs therapy with academic support, including help for students with IEPs and 504 plans, and adds art therapy and mindfulness practice. Outpatient therapy offers evening and weekend appointments. Referrals come from DSS, juvenile justice, schools, and families, and they are contracted with Trillium, Partners, Vaya, Alliance, Healthy Blue, and Carolina Complete.
