Epiphany Center is a faith-rooted recovery program in San Francisco serving women who are working through addiction, often alongside trauma from homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence. Founded by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, whose service in the city dates to 1852, they build their care around keeping mothers and young children together and strengthening the family as a whole. Their levels of care include residential treatment of 30, 60, or 90 days, a step-down transitional housing program for women who have finished residential care, and a six-month intensive outpatient program. Residential admission is open to adult women who are San Francisco residents, have at least 24 hours of sobriety, and are pregnant, have children under five, or have no children.

In residential care, women take part in recovery groups, individual counseling, and case management while learning about addiction, building a relapse prevention plan, and practicing healthy boundaries and relationships. The program also includes life skills and vocational groups, health education, and smoking cessation, and children receive therapeutic care on site while their mothers attend groups. Beyond treatment, families can use an early childhood center with developmental assessments and parent-child groups, a children’s mental health clinic offering family therapy and reunification support in English and Spanish, and a pediatric clinic run with San Francisco General Hospital. Their Family Resilience outpatient program, offered with San Francisco Family Treatment Court, runs in two three-month phases that combine in-person and online sessions, adding group and individual therapy, parenting support, and intensive case management on a schedule that leaves room for work, school, and family.
