About Emergence Health Network

Emergence Health Network is El Paso County’s designated public mental health and intellectual/developmental disabilities authority, and they are the area’s largest provider of substance use treatment. A Joint Commission-accredited Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, they take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions for adults and youth, including veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and justice-involved individuals. Their addiction care includes outpatient counseling, an intensive outpatient program, a partial hospitalization program for people with a dual diagnosis, and medication-assisted treatment, with mental health crisis services available around the clock.

The MAT program at their Westside Integrated Clinic pairs FDA-approved medications for opioid or alcohol use with weekly individual therapy, medication monitoring, and random drug screens. When more structure is needed, patients may join an eight-week IOP followed by a weekly aftercare group, and primary care is coordinated on site. Counseling is led by Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors and clinicians trained in CBT, trauma-focused CBT, and EMDR, supported by peer specialists in recovery, community health workers, and supported employment services. Teens can get help through the TRY outpatient program for ages 13 to 17 or adolescent PHP and IOP tracks, while the state-funded OSAR program offers free screening and referral to any Texan 13 or older, regardless of ability to pay.
