About Easterseals PORT
Easterseals PORT, listed in Jacksonville, North Carolina, is part of Easterseals PORT Health, a nonprofit that provides disability, mental health, and substance use services to children, adults, and families across North Carolina and Virginia. Their approach centers on treating people with dignity and respect, meeting them where they are, and caring for the whole person, with services delivered both in person and by telehealth. Substance use programs across the organization include CARF-accredited opioid treatment, medication-assisted treatment, facility-based crisis care, prevention services, Stepping Stone Manor for adult men, and a residential program for teens.
The teen program is designed for North Carolina residents ages 13 to 17½ with a primary substance use diagnosis, including those who also have mental health symptoms and haven’t found success at other levels of care. Teens stay at least four months in an unlocked setting that blends residential and day treatment, with round-the-clock supervision, daily individual and group therapy based on evidence-based practices, weekday onsite academic classes, and psychiatric evaluation and medication management when needed. Family participation is required through calls, visits, home visits, and regular meetings with the treatment team. Daily activities such as art, yoga, music therapy, sports, and community outings help teens build healthy routines, and the program accepts Medicaid or private insurance, with referrals usually coming from a professional familiar with the teen’s history.
