Dynamic Youth Community (DYC) is a long-running addiction treatment provider for adolescents and young adults, with a residential campus in Fallsburg, New York, and an outpatient center in Brooklyn. Founded in 1970, they build recovery around the therapeutic community model, where structure, peer accountability, and personal responsibility sit alongside counseling, schooling, and job preparation. Their Fallsburg residential program generally serves people ages 16 to 27 with round-the-clock support, and most residents stay for several months. Many people arrive through referrals from families, schools, or the courts, and afterward they can step down to outpatient care or to DYC’s 820 Reintegration program.

Residents and outpatients take part in individual, group, and family counseling with licensed clinicians, along with relapse prevention, life skills work, and recreational and wellness activities. Education is built into treatment through a partnership with ReStart Academy District 79, which offers Department of Education high school coursework and GED preparation, and the Fresh Start program in Brooklyn brings that schooling into an outpatient setting for students whose substance use derailed their education. Every participant also gets vocational counseling, including career exploration, help with college and financial aid, resume and interview practice, and community volunteer work. Families join through orientation and weekly parent sessions, and the outpatient program also serves adults, with limited telehealth available for them. DYC’s court advocacy team works with attorneys and probation departments to help young people pursue treatment as an alternative to incarceration, and the program accepts insurance and turns no one away for inability to pay.
