About Dimock Center
The Dimock Center is a long-standing community health center in Roxbury, Massachusetts, that has served the neighborhood since 1862 and offers addiction treatment alongside primary care, behavioral health, and family services on a single campus. Their approach centers on whole-person care, pairing substance use treatment with attention to mental health, physical health, trauma, and the practical barriers that can make recovery harder. Adults 18 and older can find a full continuum of care here, from medically supported detox and clinical stabilization to residential programs, structured outpatient groups, and office-based medication treatment.
The path often begins with Acute Treatment Services, a 24/7 withdrawal management program, followed by Clinical Stabilization Services, where residents receive therapy, case management, and recovery support before moving to the next stage of care. For longer-term residential treatment, Askia Academy serves men living with both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition, while Ruth Kelley Ummi’s House supports women, including pregnant women, and their children who are experiencing homelessness, offering housing, case management, and groups in a home-like setting. On the outpatient side, the Structured Outpatient Addictions Program provides group work on relapse prevention, trauma, mental health, and wellness, and individual therapy is also available; active health insurance is required for these services. Their Office-Based Addiction Treatment program follows a harm reduction approach and offers medications for addiction treatment, evaluations, medical follow-up, and care management, and people can self-refer to both outpatient programs without being Dimock primary care patients.
