About Dimock Center

The Dimock Center is a community health center in Roxbury, Massachusetts, that has served the neighborhood since 1862 and brings primary care, behavioral health, family services, and addiction medicine together on one campus. Their addiction care for adults 18 and older is built around treating the whole person, with attention to trauma, co-occurring mental health conditions, and physical health alongside substance use. Levels of care include medically supported withdrawal management through Acute Treatment Services (ATS), Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) for those who have finished detox and need more structure, long-term residential programs, and outpatient treatment. Many people can start care on their own, since the outpatient programs accept self-referrals and don’t require patients to use Dimock for primary care.

On the outpatient side, the Outpatient Addiction and Recovery Services (OARS) program offers the Structured Outpatient Addictions Program (SOAP), a group format covering relapse prevention, trauma, mental health, and wellness, along with individual therapy with clinicians; active health insurance is required. Their Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) program provides low-barrier medications for addiction treatment within a primary care setting, guided by a harm reduction approach and supported by medical follow-up and care management. For longer-term residential support, Askia Academy serves men in recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions through counseling, groups, and help reconnecting with family. Ruth Kelley Ummi’s House offers family-centered residential care for women, including pregnant women, and their children who are experiencing homelessness, pairing supportive housing with case management and group support.
