About Cumberland River Behavioral Health
Cumberland River Behavioral Health is a nonprofit community mental health center headquartered in Corbin, Kentucky, and has served Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Rockcastle, and Whitley counties since 1966. They treat substance use alongside mental health conditions and developmental and intellectual disabilities, and they encourage clients to shape their own recovery goals with family and other supporters. Substance use care ranges from outpatient counseling and intensive outpatient programming to residential treatment, transitional living, and long-term recovery housing. Fees are based on ability to pay, and same-day walk-in intakes are available for outpatient services.
Residential options are separated by population. Crossroads serves men with a 12-step-based program, in-house AA and NA meetings, and up to six months of transitional living afterward. Independence House serves pregnant and parenting women, the RHOAR Center helps women through opioid withdrawal while building life skills and job pathways, and Cumberland Hope offers women a peer-driven program lasting up to 18 months. For adults with addiction or co-occurring severe mental illness, the intensive outpatient program can run up to six months and works with drug courts and the Department of Corrections. They also provide DUI assessment and education, perinatal case management through KY-Moms MATR, and a 24/7 Quick Response Team of peer specialists and clinicians who reach out after overdoses with harm-reduction support and links to detox and treatment.
