About ComWell
ComWell is a nonprofit community behavioral health agency serving Randolph and Washington Counties in Southern Illinois, and their Okawville office has provided substance use counseling and DUI services for Washington County since 2014. With roots going back more than 50 years, they offer outpatient care for substance misuse and mental health for both adults and youth, and their Red Bud location operates as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. Their approach centers on integrated care that treats the whole person, and they work with local hospitals, schools, and other providers to connect clients with resources.
Getting started is meant to be simple: their Same Day Assessment program lets people walk in without an appointment and be seen that day, and assessments are also available by video or phone. Counselors help clients understand their substance use, build confidence, and change patterns of thinking and behavior, with goals that can follow either a harm reduction or an abstinence model depending on the person. Ongoing support continues through their Recovery Oriented System of Care, which pairs counseling with recovery-focused services. A sliding scale fee is available for those without insurance, and free overdose-reversing medication is offered at every ComWell location.
