About ComWell
ComWell is a not-for-profit community behavioral health agency based in Red Bud, Illinois, with additional offices in Sparta, Chester, and Okawville serving Randolph and Washington counties. They have served the region for more than 50 years and offer mental health, substance misuse, and developmental disability services under one roof, built around integrated care that treats the whole person. Their Red Bud location holds a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic grant from SAMHSA. For addiction, they provide outpatient substance use counseling for both adults and youth.
Getting started is straightforward through their Same Day Assessment program, a walk-in option where people can be seen the day they arrive without an appointment or a waitlist. The first visit can take up to two hours, minors need a parent or guardian present, and the assessment can cover substance use, mental health, or both. Counselors work with each person to define their own version of success, whether that means abstinence or a harm reduction approach, and use education, counseling, and support to help clients understand their substance use and change patterns of thinking and behavior. A Recovery Oriented System of Care adds ongoing support services, DUI services are available through the Okawville office, fees are on a sliding scale for those without insurance, and free overdose-reversal medication is offered at every location.
