About Comprehensive Community Services

Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) is a nonprofit addiction treatment agency in Kingsport, Tennessee, that has served people affected by drug and alcohol use since 1970. They treat substance use alongside co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma, and they follow a “No Wrong Door” philosophy so people can get help no matter where they first reach out. Care includes a 24-hour non-medical social detox, adult residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs, plus an adolescent residential program. A person-centered model lets clients step up or down between levels as their needs change, and CCS is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and accredited by CARF.

Each person begins with screening, a clinical and medical assessment, and placement based on American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria. Treatment draws on individual, group, and family counseling, motivational counseling, relapse prevention, and anger management, with IOP and OP sessions scheduled around work, school, and family life. Recovery support extends to case management, drug testing, employment skills, basic education, pastoral and spiritual support, transportation, and aftercare planning for the move back home. Teens in residential care attend a state-licensed school on site Monday through Friday so they keep up academically, and admission priority goes to pregnant individuals, people who inject drugs, and those referred by the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole.
