About Community and Family Resources

Community and Family Resources is a nonprofit behavioral health agency based in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with additional offices in Ames, Des Moines, Iowa City, and Webster City. They focus on reducing stigma around substance use and mental health and on helping people build lasting recovery with the support of their families and communities. Their Fort Dodge campus offers medically monitored detox with around-the-clock nursing, adult residential treatment, and intensive and extended outpatient programs. The campus is also home to STARS, a residential and outpatient program for adolescents, and the agency provides services for problem gambling and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Care begins with a confidential evaluation, often available the same day, which leads to an individualized plan and a recommended level of care. Adult residential clients take part in more than 50 hours of weekly programming and can step down to intensive outpatient with room and board or to a halfway house while they return to work. Outpatient groups cover relapse prevention, triggers, stress, and emotional health, with specialty tracks in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, PTSD, anger management, gender-specific care, and OWI programming. Medication-assisted treatment is available on-site through a partnership with UCS Healthcare, and teens in STARS can keep up with schoolwork through an on-site teacher, with family sessions and visitation built into care.
