Columbia Metro Treatment Center in West Columbia, South Carolina, is an outpatient opioid treatment program within New Season, a national provider that has focused on opioid use disorder since 1986 and operates more than 80 clinics in 20 states. Their approach treats opioid addiction as a medical condition, combining medication with counseling to address both the physical and psychological sides of dependence. The core of care is medication-assisted treatment with methadone, buprenorphine, or Suboxone, with a physician selecting the medication for each adult patient struggling with heroin or prescription painkillers. For people who need more structure than standard medication-assisted treatment, New Season also offers an intensive outpatient program.

Counseling is available in individual, group, and family formats, and the intensive outpatient track meets three times a week for three-hour sessions over at least six weeks. That program covers wellness, recovery, and resiliency education, adds weekly family sessions, and is open to adults who are pregnant, involved with the justice system, or managing mental health or chronic health conditions. Once patients reach a stable maintenance dose, they may qualify for take-home medication along with video telecounseling and telemedicine visits, which can ease the burden of frequent trips to the clinic. New Season also connects patients with help on insurance enrollment, housing, employment, food, transportation, and phone access, and they accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans.
