About Coastal Horizons Center Inc

Coastal Horizons Center is a nationally accredited nonprofit based in Wilmington, North Carolina, offering outpatient substance use and mental health treatment alongside crisis, justice, and primary care services. Their addiction care spans general outpatient counseling, a 12-week intensive outpatient program (IOP), a 16-week comprehensive outpatient program (SACOT), and a licensed opioid treatment program using methadone and buprenorphine. They serve adults, adolescents, and families, offer specialized services in Spanish, accept Medicaid and state funding, and use a sliding fee scale so that no one is turned away for inability to pay.

The IOP combines group, individual, and family therapy with case management, meeting mornings or evenings in person or by telehealth, and includes a women-only group at the New Hanover location. SACOT runs four hours a day at the Pender and Brunswick offices, covering relapse prevention, emotion regulation, social skills, and vocational resources, with transportation incentives to help clients attend. Opioid treatment clients receive medical evaluation, daily dosing, counseling, peer support, and psychiatric medication management, while office-based buprenorphine is available in Wilmington, Burgaw, and Shallotte. For people leaving a hospital or inpatient stay, the HARRTS program pairs intensive outpatient care with placement in local recovery homes, case management for benefits and medical care, transportation, and planning for the return to community living.
