About Coalition For A Drug Free Hawaii

Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii (CDFH) is a substance use prevention organization serving communities across Hawaii, including Wahiawa. Their mission is to reduce and prevent drug abuse through awareness, education, and action, guided by a vision of a safe, drug-free Hawaii where people from diverse cultures can thrive together. Their work centers on evidence-based prevention for youth, families, and neighborhoods, and it reaches the general public as well as groups at elevated risk and individuals already showing early warning signs. For families worried about a young person, they offer early support and education focused on preventing substance use before it takes hold.

Their family offerings include Strengthening Hawai‘i Families and Family Intervention & Training Services. Youth programs include TeenLink Hawaii, Second Step Hawaii, Wahiawa Youth Connect, IM SO HI, and Above the Influence, along with gender-specific options for girls such as the Lei ‘Ilima Girls Program and Girls Circle. They also support grassroots community coalitions like EWAlution 96706 and E Ola Pono Ma Kapolei, and they run Hawaii’s local “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign featuring island families. Through the Hawaii Prevention Resource Center and the Hawaii Pacific Center for Excellence, they share alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention materials and provide culturally grounded training, internships, technical assistance, conferences, and prevention specialist certification in partnership with state health and youth services agencies.
