About Circle of Freedom
Circle of Freedom is a Christ-centered recovery ministry in Seymour, Iowa, for women facing addiction and other life-controlling struggles. Their approach centers on discipleship and Scripture, built on the belief that lasting change comes from renewing a person’s heart and thinking rather than from rules alone. Alongside a residential recovery home that houses up to 10 women, they offer transitional living, weekly Biblical counseling, mentoring, and outreach to women in local jails.
The residential program uses the faith-based Adult & Teen Challenge curriculum and typically lasts 12 to 15 months, moving through phases that gradually build independence. Each woman follows an individualized study plan within a structured day of Bible study, chapel, classes, work therapy, and group activities, along with practical training in parenting, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, budgeting, and home care. In the final phase, residents can take grant-funded career courses through a local community college and begin outside employment while still living at the home, with an optional extended stay for added support. Graduates may then apply for transitional apartments on site, where they work full-time, follow an accountability plan, and stay connected through shared meals, chapel, and family activities. Their jail ministry also reaches women in Wayne and Appanoose County jails in Iowa and the Putnam County jail in Missouri.
