About Chester County Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Hazel Pittman Center, originally founded in 1974 as the Chester County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, is a nonprofit outpatient substance use program in Chester, South Carolina. As the designated county alcohol and drug authority, they provide education, prevention, and outpatient treatment to individuals and families in Chester County and nearby areas. They see substance use disorders as preventable and treatable, and they rely on evidence-based care delivered with compassion and respect. Services range from brief interventions and weekly groups to intensive outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and ongoing recovery support, and the center is CARF-accredited and licensed by South Carolina DHEC.

Care is matched to each person’s needs through assessment. Options include Marijuana Brief Intervention for adults and youth, the Pathways group built on the Prime Solutions curriculum, which meets for an hour twice a week, and an Intensive Outpatient Program held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for people whose substance use has seriously disrupted their lives. Recovery Management helps people who have finished treatment, or who are struggling after a period of sobriety, rework their recovery plans with counselors and peer support specialists. Individual and family counseling, peer support from certified staff in long-term recovery, ADSAP and PRI groups for people involved in DUI-related programs, and buprenorphine or naltrexone through a contracted medical provider round out their services.
