About CHC Addiction Services
CHC Addiction Services is a longtime Akron, Ohio, nonprofit that has treated substance use and mental health disorders since 1974, offering dual-diagnosis care for people with co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Their services span outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient (IOP) groups, Touchstone partial hospitalization, a women’s outpatient recovery program, and RAMAR, a men’s residential program. They also offer medication-assisted treatment and recovery housing. New clients start with a walk-in or scheduled intake assessment and are typically seen in less than a day after referral, then work with an intake specialist to build an individualized plan.
Their medication-assisted treatment program pairs methadone, buprenorphine, or Vivitrol with required counseling, case management, and peer support, and Vivitrol is also available for alcohol dependence. Group options include a 20-topic IOP curriculum, a seven-session motivational group called Reboot, peer-led recovery support meetings, and a grief therapy group, alongside in-person and telehealth psychiatry. The women’s program follows trauma-informed principles, offers EMDR therapy, and partners with Ohio’s M.O.M.S. initiative to support pregnant and postpartum women. Practical supports include drop-in childcare, transportation help, vocational assistance, and six recovery houses (five for men and one for women), and they accept most public and private insurance.
