About Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment

The Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment is a nonprofit provider in Duluth, Minnesota, serving adults and adolescents with substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and problem gambling. Their care begins with a comprehensive assessment, available by walk-in, by appointment, or virtually, which shapes an individualized treatment plan built around goals the client and counselor set together. Levels of care include a 40-bed detox and withdrawal management unit with 24-hour medical and clinical staffing, a residential program for men and women, medication for opioid and alcohol use disorders, intensive outpatient treatment, and relapse prevention. Same-day walk-in admission is available for detox, withdrawal management, and their opioid treatment program.

Their Addiction Medicine Clinic combines medical care, therapy, and practical help in one place, with methadone or Suboxone and behavioral therapies through the Clearpath Clinic, plus office-based Suboxone, Vivitrol, oral naltrexone, and Sublocade injections. They also offer walk-in inductions and bridge prescriptions for people who don’t need detox, give pregnant patients priority access across all programs, and connect clients with MNsure insurance navigators, a peer recovery specialist, and staff who help with housing and employment. Adult intensive outpatient groups meet four hours a day, three days a week, with morning and evening options, while a weekly three-hour relapse prevention group serves as aftercare or a step-down, and both can be attended in person or remotely. Teens 12 and older can join after-school groups twice a week with a licensed counselor who also visits several local schools, and gambling treatment is offered free to Minnesota residents through groups, individual counseling, and assessments.
