Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties is a faith-based nonprofit that has served mid-Michigan since 1941, and their Owosso office offers counseling that includes support for substance use addiction. Their counselors work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, so addiction can be addressed alongside related struggles such as depression, anxiety, grief, anger, family crisis, and domestic violence. The broader mission is to help people move from basic survival toward stable, independent living, with treatment connected to practical help and referrals.

Beyond counseling, prevention specialists run free groups and classes across Shiawassee, Genesee, and Lapeer Counties, held in homes, schools, churches, and other community settings. Offerings include substance use awareness, life skills, anger management, parenting classes, and the Families and Schools Together program. For people returning home from prison, the Offender Success program, also based in Owosso, pairs supervision and accountability with help in behavioral health, housing stability, job readiness, and social support. The Owosso office also runs a food pantry and community closet, which can ease some of the everyday pressures that make recovery harder.
