About Casa Di Vita

Casa Di Vita is a residential reintegration program for women on Buffalo’s West Side, run by Cazenovia Recovery, a Western New York nonprofit that operates a full continuum of residential care for substance use disorders. They treat addiction as a medical condition that responds to the right mix of medication, counseling, and practical skill-building. Reintegration is the stage that typically follows intensive rehabilitation, giving women a structured group-living setting while they connect with community resources like outpatient treatment and vocational services. There’s no fixed length of stay, though residents in reintegration usually remain three to six months, and they can move on to peer-supported apartments or supported housing as they gain independence.

Daily support centers on individual and group counseling, with group topics shaped to the population served and covering areas such as boundaries, conflict resolution, mental health, employment goals, mindfulness, stress management, parenting, and gender-specific issues. Residents choose among groups, so each schedule reflects what that person actually needs to work on. Care is trauma-informed and draws on evidence-based practices including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Contingency Management, and Motivational Interviewing. Medication-assisted treatment is encouraged, and eligible residents are connected with local prescribers and helped to stay on their medication regimens for opioid, alcohol, or nicotine dependence.
