About Casa de Consejeria y Salud Integral
Casa de Consejeria y Salud Integral (CASA) is a community-based outpatient agency in Philadelphia’s Upper Kensington and Fairhill neighborhoods, offering holistic substance use treatment in both English and Spanish. Rev. Birma Montes, a Puerto Rican pastor and social worker whose own family was touched by addiction, founded them in 1993. They describe themselves as Christ-centered while serving people of every background, and they aim for whole-person wellness rather than sobriety alone. They treat adults and youth ages 15 to 17 for dependence on opioids, alcohol, cocaine, cannabis, hallucinogens, and other substances, and they recently added mental health services.
Counselors and patients choose therapies together from options that include Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, family and couples work, and a range of skills and support groups. As a co-occurring capable clinic, they connect patients with a psychiatrist within one to seven days of admission. Their medication-assisted treatment includes Suboxone, Sublocade, Vivitrol, and nicotine replacement for opioid, alcohol, and nicotine addiction. Bilingual certified peer specialists, social workers who help with housing, benefits, transportation, and referrals to detox or higher levels of care, pastoral staff, and hands-on activities like gardening, cooking, and museum trips round out care, and they also offer DUI evaluations and Pennsylvania-certified DUI education.
