About Carter Treatment Center
The Carter Treatment Center is an outpatient addiction treatment provider in Alpharetta, Georgia, serving people across metro Atlanta who are struggling with alcohol, drugs, or a combination of substances. They offer a step-down continuum of care that includes a full-day partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP) with several sessions each week, and a standard outpatient program (OP) with weekly or biweekly therapy. Each client starts with a confidential assessment and receives a personalized plan built around their goals and schedule. Dual diagnosis care for anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and other co-occurring conditions is part of every level. They don’t provide inpatient or acute detox themselves, but they help people decide whether outpatient withdrawal management is safe and refer them to detox providers when more medical support is needed.
Treatment combines individual and group therapy led by licensed clinicians with evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed interventions. Clients also attend skill-building sessions on emotional regulation, stress management, communication, and relapse prevention, along with recovery education about how substances affect the brain and body. When it’s clinically appropriate, medication-assisted treatment such as Suboxone is available for opioid or alcohol addiction and can continue through outpatient care. Families are involved when helpful, and clients finishing OP move into aftercare planning, alumni groups, peer support, and continued individual or family therapy so they stay connected to care over the long term.
