About Carey Counseling Center Inc

Carey Counseling Center is a nonprofit community behavioral health center in Paris, Tennessee, that has served communities across Northwest Tennessee since 1970. They treat a broad range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, and bipolar disorder, alongside addiction, with a person-centered approach. Substance use care is delivered on an outpatient basis through alcohol and drug evaluations, treatment, and DUI classes, backed by 24-hour adult crisis response and mobile crisis services. No one is turned away for inability to pay, and essential services are discounted based on family size and income.

Each person starts with a diagnostic intake assessment that shapes an individualized treatment plan, which may include individual therapy for adults, children, and adolescents, group therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management. Case management, adult peer support, Tennessee Health Link care coordination, and a liaison for people involved with the criminal justice system round out the outpatient services, and clinicians use evidence-based trauma models such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Care is provided by a team that includes a board-certified psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors. Separately, they run a residential program for TennCare-eligible adults living with severe mental illness and co-occurring medical conditions, using a step-up model that moves residents from medically fragile homes to supportive living and eventually to independent housing as they progress.
