About Career and Recovery Resources Inc

Career and Recovery Resources is a Houston nonprofit that has helped people build stable lives since 1945, combining outpatient substance use treatment with employment and housing support. They serve adults of all genders through trauma-informed care delivered by licensed counselors, and more than 1,500 people go through their treatment and education programs each year. Their mission centers on removing the obstacles that keep people from stability, including addiction, underemployment, and homelessness. They give particular focus to youth, veterans, people with disabilities, and people referred through the criminal justice system.

Treatment is offered at two outpatient levels. The Intensive Outpatient Program runs at least 10 hours a week for six weeks and covers counseling, substance use education, and support services. The Supportive Outpatient Program provides longer-term aftercare, with at least two group sessions a week for 12 weeks. Every client receives both individual and group counseling, and pregnant adults and parents with dependent children, including those whose children are in state custody, are given priority access. They also offer a three-session DWI education course for $125, available in person or on Zoom, as well as anger management classes priced from $25 to $100. Clients can also connect with housing navigation and job training through the same organization.
