About Camino Real Community Services
Camino Real Community Services is a nonprofit community center based in South Texas, with their substance use disorder programs headquartered in Jourdanton. Founded in 2000 as the designated local authority for mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities, they serve Atascosa, Dimmit, Frio, Karnes, La Salle, Maverick, McMullen, Wilson, and Zavala Counties. Their addiction services are delivered on an outpatient basis, so adolescents and adults can keep up with work, school, and family life while in treatment. Care is person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, and each client works with staff to build an individualized plan that can range from early intervention to long-term maintenance.
They run three distinct outpatient tracks. The adult program (TRA) combines individual counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention, life skills work, and peer support from people with lived recovery experience. The youth program (TRY) adds family involvement when appropriate, education about substance use, and Family Partner support from parents who have faced a loved one’s addiction. A gender-responsive program for women (TRF) serves those who are pregnant, postpartum, raising children under 18, or have children in foster care, and people needing broader help can also connect with the center’s mental health, crisis, and veteran services.
