Bridgeway Center Inc is a nonprofit community behavioral health organization in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, serving Okaloosa County and surrounding areas for about 60 years. As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic accredited by CARF, they treat substance use and addiction alongside depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Their substance use services include a detoxification unit, a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program, and outpatient substance use counseling, with in-person and telehealth appointments available. Care starts with an assessment of each person’s needs and strengths, which then shapes an individualized treatment plan.

Outpatient substance use counseling is offered in individual and group formats for clients ages 11 and older, and the length of treatment is set jointly by the client and therapist. Therapists draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing, and counseling in Spanish is available. A multidisciplinary team of therapists, case managers, prescribers, and nurses works alongside peer support specialists, primary care health clinics, and an on-site pharmacy, which makes it easier to address physical and mental health in one place. They also provide case management, housing assistance, and programs for people experiencing homelessness, as well as referral-based options like a DUI program and forensic pre-trial services.
