About Bowen Health
Bowen Health, formerly known as Bowen Center, is a community health organization serving 22 counties across northeast and north central Indiana, including the Fort Wayne area. They bring mental health care, primary care, and addiction recovery together in one place, with the goal of treating the whole person rather than a single diagnosis. Their recovery services address opioid addiction, alcohol dependence, tobacco use, compulsive gambling, sexual addiction, and eating disorders, with care ranging from detoxification and hospitalization to intensive outpatient treatment. As a safety-net provider, they accept Medicaid and don’t turn anyone away because they can’t pay.
Each person’s treatment plan is tailored and may draw on medication-assisted treatment, individual counseling, and group therapy, along with education and support for family members. Teens have access to dedicated programming, and adults moving out of more intensive care can look to transitional living services. Because the organization also runs inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, crisis receiving and stabilization, and a 24-hour crisis line that accepts walk-ins, people dealing with both substance use and mental health crises can find help within the same system. Primary care, dentistry, and life skills coaching are also available, which can make it easier to address physical health and day-to-day stability alongside recovery.
