About Better Life Partners
Better Life Partners is a medication-assisted treatment program serving members throughout Maine, including the Ellsworth area, and New Hampshire, with care offered both online and in person. They treat opioid and alcohol use disorders and pair medication with group counseling, peer support, and medical care for the whole person. Their approach centers on meeting people where they are, so whether someone wants to cut back or stop entirely, the recovery goals are theirs to set. Getting started is designed to be quick, with a short intro call, a conversation with a provider, and often a prescription and first counseling appointment on the same day.
For opioid use disorder, their providers prescribe and monitor Suboxone, generic buprenorphine-naloxone, injectable buprenorphine, and Zubsolv, while alcohol use disorder may be treated with naltrexone, acamprosate, and comfort care medications. Counseling takes place mainly in group therapy, which may meet weekly, every other week, or monthly depending on where a person is in recovery, and make-up sessions are available. Each member works with a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, and coaches who also address co-occurring mental health conditions and everyday medical needs such as STI care, pain, and fevers. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, and people without coverage can use a low-cost self-pay option offered through Groups Recover Together.
