About Behavior Management Systems
Behavior Management Systems, operating under the West River Mental Health name, is a private not-for-profit behavioral health agency based in Rapid City, South Dakota. Since 1948 they have offered mental health and substance use disorder care to adults, children, and families across western South Dakota, with several locations in Rapid City plus offices in Spearfish and Hot Springs. Their addiction services include a residential program for women, an intensive outpatient program for teens, and confidential substance use assessments. They also provide psychiatric care, case management, and crisis support through their Pivot Point crisis care center.
Their Full Circle residential program is designed for mothers, and children from newborns through age 10 may be able to live with their mother during treatment. Alongside a substance use curriculum and trauma-focused care, women work on parenting, job and employment skills, and health and wellness, with access to prenatal, postpartum, and well-baby care, help with family reunification, and connections to housing and other community resources. Adolescents ages 14 to 17 can attend an after-school intensive outpatient program built around relapse prevention, coping and emotional regulation skills, peer and group therapy, family involvement, and individualized treatment plans. Assessments are available for both teens and adults, including court-, probation-, and employer-referred clients, and the psychiatric team accepts major insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare for medication management.
