Banyan Health Systems, now operating as Banyan Community Health, is a nonprofit community health organization serving Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, including the Pompano Beach area, with integrated primary care, mental health, and addiction services. They have treated substance use for roughly four decades and approach addiction as a chronic, relapse-prone condition that often occurs alongside mental and physical health problems. Their substance use care spans 24-hour crisis intervention and stabilization, detox, adult residential treatment, and outpatient services, with staff working alongside each client to find the right level of care. They serve people regardless of their ability to pay.

Co-occurring disorders are a particular focus, and they also offer outpatient psychiatric and mental health services as well as medication-assisted treatment. Their Patient-Centered Medical Home model means behavioral health and in-house primary care teams coordinate on each person’s treatment, so medical issues common in early recovery, such as chronic pain, hypertension, diabetes, or HIV, can be addressed in the same system. A residential re-entry program offers structured support for people moving back into the community. For more acute needs, they operate a Crisis Stabilization Unit and a Centralized Receiving Facility, and their research division studies ways to improve patient outcomes.
