About Avita Community Partners

Avita Community Partners is a public behavioral health organization serving individuals and families across 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Forsyth County, where Cumming is located. They support children, adolescents, and adults living with addictive diseases, mental illness, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their addiction services follow the Recovery Model, which treats each person as an active partner who sets their own goals, and the Episodes of Treatment Model, which recognizes that needs change over time. Under that approach, people can step away from services when they no longer need them and return if they do.

For substance use, they offer short-term individual, family, and group counseling along with daily classes covering living skills, anger and stress management, self-esteem, and parenting. Rehabilitation and community support staff help with practical matters like coordinating care, planning nutrition, and budgeting, while employment specialists help clients build job skills, prepare for interviews, and keep part-time or full-time work. Depending on need, physician and nursing care, medication management, and pharmacy services may be available. They also run a Behavioral Health Crisis Center for acute situations, offer youth programs that address substance abuse, and provide an ASL-fluent counselor and case manager for Deaf and hard of hearing clients.
